In 2003, Amy Updike graduated from Carteret High School and was awarded a 4-year ROTC scholarship to Purdue University, in West Lafayette, Indiana, where she majored in Nursing. In 2007, she graduated and was commissioned into the US Army, as a 2LT. Her first duty station was Walter Reed Army Medical Center, in Washington, DC. In 2009, she was deployed to Tikrit, Iraq, with the 47th Combat Support Hospital, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Amy served two deployments and returned to the US, finishing her obligation to WRAMC. She has also been stationed at Fort Wainwright, in Fairbanks, Alaska, and at Joint Base Lewis Mc Chord, in Seattle, Washington. In 2017, Amy was promoted to the rank of Major. In 2018, she transitioned to the Army Reserves and is assigned to the 396th Combat Support Hospital, in Vancouver, Oregon, and serves at the Emergency Medical Section Officer in Charge. Amy is currently a Clinical Nurse Manage of a Seattle area hospital. She has earned a Masters in Homeland Security and Public Preparedness and a Doctorate of Nursing Practices from Penn State University.
